The Green Ledger of Education

A framework for leading AI‑era transformation in higher education
Jeffrey Ober — Higher‑Ed Leader • Marine Corps Veteran • Doctorate in Educational Leadership

AI won’t merely speed up legacy routines; it will displace some practices and require new structures. The Green‑Ledger framework helps presidents, provosts, deans, CTLs, and PD teams name what’s ending, design what’s next, and move the institution—openly, quickly, and with care.

Signature Keynote

Keynote: The Green Ledger of Education
This flagship talk reframes AI in education from “tools and tips” to institutional design. Jeffrey walks leaders through the imitation → displacement → redesign sequence seen in other industries and applies it to assessment, student services, faculty workload, and governance. Attendees leave with a practical lens to identify green‑ledger practices (work that will fade), specify what replaces them (not just faster, but different), and plan policy/role adjustments (including interim practices when barriers can’t move yet).

Ideal audiences
: Presidents, provosts, boards, accreditation bodies, state agencies, higher‑ed consortia, foundations.

Design demonstrations that resist trivial automation (defense, applied briefs, portfolio).
  2. Faculty Time, Better Spent: Shifting Hours from Mechanics to Mentorship
Reduce mechanical grading/admin; increase critique, modeling, and feedback.
  3. Policy That Enables, Not Prohibits: Integrity & Appropriate Use in Practice
Move from blanket bans to appropriate‑use + evidence language with concrete examples.
  4. Student Services at Scale: Advising, Signals, and Human Escalation
Use AI for first‑touch clarity; reserve people for judgment and relationship.
